“Waves of life”

This photo was captured on the final day of 2023, and represents the year that would be coming.

I see myself in the two kids, seeking fun and fulfillment. While the waves remind me of the many stages of life that are barreling towards me. Maybe some will knock me down, or maybe some will propel me forward — I just hope I remember to have fun in the waves.

“Good Game”

One of those “you just have to be there” photos. I couldn't believe my eyes when I plugged my SD card in to reveal this perfect combination of luck, timing, and position.

I think this will be one of my favorite photos for a long time. I always hoped that college would bring me great opportunities to shoot, and this shot confirmed it.

“Start Over”

In my brief time working with concert photography, I caught lightning in a bottle. Right place, right time, and some really great music.

Soon after getting this shot, I went on to hear one of my favorite songs “Start this over,” for the first time ever.

This concert will be one I remember, especially with this photo hanging on my wall.

“Lulu”

The best dog I’ve ever had.

I got this shot during her last summer, and she passed in October of 2022.

This shot remained hidden away in the middle of a film roll that was slowly filling up through my Canon AE-1 program. By the time I got this roll developed months later, I had completely forgotten about the picture.

Seeing this for the first time was an incredible surprise. Perfect focus, perfect framing, perfect dog.

“Gameday”

Michigan State Football played a big role in my journey, as it was the first thing I got to shoot when I came to school. The 2021 season was magic both on the field and in my lens — and suddenly it’s two years later.

Shooting from the stands of one of my final football games as a college student, I captured this gem. All three reactions are ones that we have all experienced in spartan stadium.

As I grew in photography, I stopped shooting only vertical photos — which allowed me to get shots like this one.

“Honey, I’m Chrome”

There were many favorite photos from this shoot, which was the first true photoshoot I directed.

Utilizing a fun concept, setting up lights, and posing with accessories felt like a new stage of evolution for my journey as a photographer.

It’s easy to get caught up in what is popular, making a lot of money, or easy.

When you go the extra mile, or cover your apartment walls in tin foil, you get the work that counts.

“Capital Green Country Club”

Let’s take an acapella group and shoot them in a country club setting.

It doesn’t always have to make sense, and sometimes your work is better the further it is outside the box.

Working with an eccentric group like Capital Green made my job easy, and kept me coming back every time they called.

“Taking it in”

It’s easy to get caught up in the shot, the set, the work.

This was my first concert I ever shot, and I just pressed my shutter hoping something would turn out.

I think this photo represents concert photography well. Feel the music, let it rip, and take a moment to take it in.

“Looking through Lisbon”

Taken on the last day of the best week of my life (so far).

Looking out at Lisbon, Portugal a few hours before boarding my flight, reminiscing on my trip.

First time traveling solo and first time in Europe was a creative breakthrough for me.

There was no one to tell me what to do, or when to put my camera down.

Obrigado, Portugal.

“Winter”

This was the first photo that made me think “I can be a photographer” and not just a filmmaker.

Standing on the frozen pier of South Haven, Michigan in January 2021, I asked to take this dog’s portrait.

I remember editing it for the first time, and the thrill that came with a good photo.

If I took it now, I’m sure it would be different and probably much better, but it was a strong step onto my path.
