The California Road Trip
On July 29, 2022, I flew to Arizona to meet my best friend Jacob and his friends Maggie, Matthew, and Alex.
We spent two days in the dessert, and at 9 pm on the third we began our drive.
Nine hours of driving through the night is not easy, especially with five people packed in an SUV. I had the two hour sunrise shift through LA which led to a breakfast stop in Ventura, then our first destination: Morro Bay.
Morro Bay
Our first stop was probably the hardest — all of us were running on extremely little sleep.
The exhaustion didn’t stop us from taking in the incredible views and serene town that sat behind the iconic Morro Rock. I warmed up my SD card while waiting for our order of fish and chips, and thought about the many shots that were to come on this trip.
We ended the first night with a campfire, some beers, and a much needed shower. The second I woke up, I was in a much better mood than the previous day, and couldn't wait to drive to our next spot.
Big Sur
Big Sur was the main place I thought of when I had pictured this trip in the months prior, and it did not disappoint. We caused up the coast of the state and couldn’t keep our eyes from the car window or the many road pull-offs.
